We left Wednesday night after John got off work and it felt weird to leave our house for the first time. Instead of driving all the way to Las Vegas in one trip we stayed a night in Panquitch and saw Colton, Leslie, Duke and Shadow. It was fun to catch up but I was really excited to eat at Cowboys for breakfast. So we got up early and drove over to find out it was closed. It was pretty sad but we pressed onto Vegas.
The funeral was pretty rough for everyone. I had only met John's uncle Joe once but at the funeral when John's dad got up to speak even I couldn't keep a dry eye. I wish I could have known him better. The rest of the day we spent with all the family and catching up.
Then since John and I were staying with Debra and Richard we left earlier and headed over to their place. They took us to the strip and we got dessert at the Sugar Factory and it was delicious!
Friday morning we walked around the Pedan's place and enjoyed the cold water in the dry heat before we headed up for our third drive to Ely Nevada.
John even smiled for me!
We went to Ely (technically Ruth) because of a program that Debbie Bainbridge put together for an old family friend and someone John worked with that happened Saturday morning. It was a great little program and I saw the world's shortest parade of 4 cars. John's dad told me not to get my hopes up but I guess I expected more than that!
Then we went to Mcdonalds where Savana and John got pretty bored. They played with pikachu toys before we left to bathtub races, that's right, bathtub races.
They were fun but it was hot, windy, and too many people were smoking for me so a few of us left early and headed home. That evening we had a BBQ and then woke up early Sunday morning and made it for Sara Rappley's mission farewell.
It was a busy weekend and we saw a lot of people so we are exhausted. Poor John had to go to work today, what a guy. I promise my next post will be shorter.
